Rodenticide bait for the control of rats and house mice in and around buildings. Roshield Whole Wheat Bait is a ready-for-use bait formulated using food grade micronised (high temperature treated) wheat. Micronisation prevents germination and begins converting starches to sugars, sweetening the bait and increasing its attractiveness to rodents. Roshield wheat contains an aroma, giving a unique chocolatey smell. Taste adjuvants and sweeteners improve bait take and bio-stats inhibit fungi or bacteria’s growth when the bait is used in damp conditions. Highly palatable and effective against all pest rodents, Roshield wheat is the ideal bait to use. The target population feeds on whole-grain foodstuffs and is an ideal baiting method for controlling rats’ house mice within-country environments. Roshield rodenticide products are manufactured in the UK using materials sourced from British farmers. Every packet contains 150g bromadiolone whole wheat. Due to new regulations introduced, users should not empty the bag into bait boxes or trays instead of naturally allowing rodents to chew through the plastic bag. For faster acceptance, we recommend lightly piercing the bag. When ready to bait place the entire unopened sachet into an appropriate tamper-resistant bait station. The bag should be attached to a bait box by closing the lid on the sachet bag to firmly hold it in place or by using the internal bait rod and piercing straight through the bag. Add several boxes depending on the size of the infestation. Due to the size of the sachet, it is not appropriate for smaller mouse box stations. Do not place in open environments as rats are likely to drag and spill the contents.

It is a legal requirement for amateur users to use rodenticide bait within tamper-resistant bait box stations, regardless of the treatment location. The amount of product required to control an infestation will vary on the size of the population and the availability of other food sources. Therefore, we are unable to guarantee that a single packet or kit will control an established infestation. In addition, larger populations will always require a larger qty of bait; an additional purchase of rodenticide bait may be required. The most common issue when controlling brown rats or house mice is users under-baiting an infestation. A small amount of rodenticide to control a larger population can result in continuous activity over a long period, bait shyness from a sub-lethal dosage and in extreme cases, resistance to the active ingredients. Whilst it can be difficult to predict the qty required, the average infestation is likely to need between 600g-1kg for brown rats and 150g-300g for house mice. Therefore, treating a farm will likely require a significantly higher bait than a small population in domestic premises. Rodenticide resistance is a small but growing issue in some areas of the UK, particularly in the towns of Reading, Bolton & Edinburgh. A handy resistance map is available by the RRAC (Rodenticide Resistance Action Committee), which can inform users of any potential resistance issue, and we recommend some research to find out if you live in a known location. If you are in a resistance area, we recommend using our Roshield Brodifacoum blocks or ProPest wheat as there is no known resistance; however, this type of bait should only be used as the last option toxicity via secondary poisoning and can complicate any treatments if under-baited. The majority of treatments are successful with difenacoum or bromadiolone, and this should be used as the first step in control. Packages containing rodenticide may be left by the courier in open porches or posted through letterboxes. Any animals, children or other unauthorised persons mustn’t have access to the package on the day of delivery. Please do not order if you are unable to be present to receive the package. Proofing for brown rats should be straightforward as their holes can be more obvious and easier to proof. A common access point within domestic premises is via the drainage, in which a guard can be fitted to stop further ingress.
