Our pre-baited mouse box kit for the control of mice internally is a solution to controlling mice with little preparation required. Every box kit includes 5 black mouse boxes pre-baited with 20g of our popular brodifacoum wax bait block.
Brodifacoum is a single-take rodenticide bait meaning that the mice only have to consume a small amount over 1 feed to obtain a fatal dose.
Remove the boxes from the kit and place in the area of infestation. We recommend that the boxes are placed in voids away from human habitation, this may be under the kitchen plinths, under floorboards or within an attic space. We do not recommend placing boxes in exposed areas such as the hallway or under a chair.
Every kit includes the following:
Our blocks are ready-for-use for the control of rats and house mice. Our bait has been formulated using high-quality culinary grade wheat flour, blended with chopped wheat, other cereals, and proteins bound together by edible waxes.
Other food-grade materials improve palatability compared to other extruded or cast blocks, ensuring excellent bait take. The incorporation of bio-stats inhibits both fungi and bacteria’s growth should the block be exposed to damp/sewer conditions. Roshield blocks also contain an aroma, giving a unique chocolatey smell.
Boxes are tamper-resistant and require a key to open (1 included per 5 boxes) and their heavy-duty design prevents unauthorised access by children or pets. However, they should not be seen as total protection for persistent attack by a determined animal, so we still recommend that the boxes are still placed within secure locations away from direct access.
Placement of the boxes in the correct location is key for their acceptance. We recommend placing them within kitchen cupboards rather than directly on work surfaces, in voids associated with mice such as attic spaces or under the flooring and other locations away from human habitation.
Our boxes have been designed and manufactured from strong polypropylene in the UK. The black boxes use recycled plastics sourced from old car bumpers and dashboards.
Please always read and follow the instructions on the rear of the packaging at all times and keep pets, children and non-target animals away from rodenticides.
It is a legal requirement for amateur users to use rodenticide bait within tamper-resistant bait box stations, regardless of the treatment location.
The amount of product required to control an infestation will vary on the size of the population and the availability of other food sources. Therefore, we are unable to guarantee that a single packet or kit will control an established infestation. In addition, larger populations will always require a larger qty of bait; an additional purchase of rodenticide bait may be required.
The most common issue when controlling brown rats or house mice is users under-baiting an infestation. A small amount of rodenticide to control a larger population can result in continuous activity over a long period, bait shyness from a sub-lethal dosage and in extreme cases, resistance to the active ingredients. Whilst it can be difficult to predict the qty required, the average infestation is likely to need between 600g-1kg for brown rats and 150g-300g for house mice. Therefore, treating a farm will likely require a significantly higher bait than a small population in domestic premises.
Rodenticide resistance is a small but growing issue in some areas of the UK, particularly in the towns of Reading, Bolton & Edinburgh. A handy resistance map is available by the RRAC (Rodenticide Resistance Action Committee), which can inform users of any potential resistance issue, and we recommend some research to find out if you live in a known location. If you are in a resistance area, we recommend using our Roshield Brodifacoum blocks or ProPest wheat as there is no known resistance; however, this type of bait should only be used as the last option toxicity via secondary poisoning and can complicate any treatments if under-baited. The majority of treatments are successful with difenacoum or bromadiolone, and this should be used as the first step in control.
Packages containing rodenticide may be left by the courier in open porches or posted through letterboxes. Any animals, children or other unauthorised persons mustn’t have access to the package on the day of delivery. Please do not order if you are unable to be present to receive the package. All packages are sent via a tracked service, and the reference will be uploaded and attached to the order. The majority of services also offer an SMS or email notification alert within an expected time of arrival, so we recommended that your details within our website are up to date; however, we cannot guarantee that this service will be used.
Additional guidance instructions are provided on how to use Roshield products or can be downloaded via our website. In addition, instructions are available on request in several other languages, including French, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, Bengali and Chinese.
If you doubt the qty of bait or the required treatment, please get in touch with us or a qualified professional for additional advice.
Rats and mice are associated with a high number of bacteria and viruses, so it is important to undertake the necessary precautions to protect your health before and after treatment. We sell various products, including our popular Roshield Sanitiser & Cleaner Spray, to clean areas associated with rodents.
Lastly and most importantly, any proofing works must be undertaken to prevent rodents from re-gaining access. Proofing for brown rats should be straightforward as their holes can be more obvious and easier to proof. A common access point within domestic premises is via the drainage, in which a guard can be fitted to stop further ingress. House mice can be more difficult, if not impossible, so we recommend that users prove any obvious holes internally and externally. Fort Products has several options for proofing.
Approved by the HSE for amateur operators within the UK.
